The Scottish Women’s Football (SWF) has announced that all matches due to be played this weekend (3rd/4th March) have been postponed due to the weather. This includes SWPL, SWFL, youth regional and national leagues.
In a statement on their website, they explain that this is due the forecast which shows that the freezing weather that has been hitting the country this week is to continue into the weekend which will lead to dangerous conditions.
The SWF state that if conditions do improve, clubs can contact their League Administrator by 10am on the 2nd March if they want their game to be exempt from the postponement. “This will only be considered if both clubs are in agreement and that the clubs are satisfied that they are not taking any risks with regards travel or player safety as outlined above. Please note that this does not guarantee that the game will go ahead, just that a referee will be appointed and the decision will be made on the day based on conditions.”
