Aberdeen has announced the arrivals of Samantha McDonald, Lindsey Dunbar and Jade McLaren for the 2017 campaign.
This will be the second spell for Samantha McDonald who arrives from Dee Ladies after being at the club as a youngster and she is looking forward to getting going with Aberdeen again.
“Everyone at the club has made me welcome and I am enjoying it so can’t wait to get the new season started. The whole set-up at Aberdeen is good and very professional. Everything is there with coaches, backroom staff and good facilities. The training intensity is very high so it’s a great challenge for me.”
Lindsey Dunbar and Jade McLaren were involved in the SWPL 1 last season with Forfar Farmington and Dunbar is looking forward to a pivotal role this campaign.
“I am excited for new challenges and looking forward to playing in a new team. Getting relegated with Forfar gave me a big decision and I’m delighted to join Aberdeen. I think I’m joining a bigger and better club where I will get more experience and continue to develop in SWPL. Stefan played in a similar role as me when he played so getting tips from him will help me along the way and I am looking forward to the season ahead with my new team mates”
Aberdeen’s Head Coach Stefan Laird commented on his latest arrivals, “Samantha trained with us for the last month of the season so it’s been an easier transition for her going into pre-season. It’s a new experience for her at a higher level, however, she has all the tools to succeed. It will take her time to get used to a new style of play at a higher level but she is more than capable of finding the back of the net.”
“Lindsey and Jade were known well to us previously and with the geographical situation of Forfar and despite their age have plenty of Premier League experience and it’s been simple for both to settle in at the club. Both players are terrific additions to the squad and I am delighted they will be wearing red this season.”
