Frankie Brown Signs New Bristol City Contract

Scotland full-back Frankie Brown has signed a new contact with FA WSL 1 side Bristol City, having already spent eight years with the club – and helping them get promoted back to the top-flight last season. Since 2011 (when the WSL was formed), Brown has played 42 times for the club.

Bristol City (who were previously known as Bristol Academy) are managed by ex-Hibernian Head Coach Willie Kirk.

Last season, Brown had an injury-hit period which curtailed the number of Scotland games she could play in the Euro qualifiers. Whilst Kirk admitted this had made the season “tough” for her, he said, “she still managed to play a big part on and off the pitch in achieving promotion.”

He felt that her wide experience in international and Champions League football will be “invaluable” as the club competes in the WSL 1.

Brown has now won 80 caps for Scotland since making her debut back in September 2008 and played in both of their recent friendlies against Denmark.

She plays alongside ex-Hibs and Scotland team-mates Chloe Arthur and Claire Emslie at Bristol City.
