Aberdeen Football Club players and coaches have returned to pre-season training as they prepare for another competitive and entertaining season of SWPL 1 football.
Head Coach Stefan Laird, Assistant Kevin Buchan along with the rest of the staff will be looking for a good pre-season as they prepare their young squad for another competitive season ahead. The current management team were installed in July 2016, having been promoted from the Aberdeen Under-20s side and successfully guided the club safe of relegation last year.
They will look to consolidate their position within the SWPL 1 this coming season and Laird is excited about the season coming, commentating that: “It is fantastic to have the players and staff together again after what has been a good break. It will be a period of extremely hard work for all involved and we look forward to that. We have several additions to the squad, some from out with and others from within our own Academy structure, you will hear more about them shortly.
“As always we strive to improve each and every session as we look to consolidate our position within an extremely competitive SWPL 1. Life just is not the same without the game, we are delighted to be together on the training field again and we look forward to the 2017 campaign. Come On You Reds.”

Striker Nikki Smith, one of the more experienced players in the team, spoke of her excitement about the upcoming season, saying:
“Everyone is desperate to get into it now. It’s been a long break since we kicked a ball so looking forward to getting back into it and shaking off the winter blues.”

With the 2017 fixtures to be released imminently and there is a fresh air of excitement and anticipation within everyone at the club striving to build upon the seventh place finish achieved last season.
