Ainslie Park, 9 October, Kick-off: 1pm
Spartans host Stirling University in a key game in the battle for fourth. This is Spartans’ final home game of the season.
After last week’s results, Spartans can no longer finish in third place, but they face a challenge to finish the season in fourth which would secure a top-half finish. They are now one point ahead of fifth-place Rangers after losing an epic 5-4 defeat and are three points ahead of their opponents Stirling Univeristy.
They are also wanting to end a four-game losing run at home. Their last win at Ainslie Park was against Rangers before the break.
Stirling’s form after the break has been highly impressive and like Spartans, they were on the wrong side of an epic game, losing 4-3 to Celtic due to a last-gasp goal.
It was the last time these sides met in the SWPL, just after the break, which ended in a 2-2 draw that saw the kick-starting in Stirling’s form – where they’ve won three and drawn one.
Earlier in the SWPL Cup First Round, Spartans triumphed in extra-time whilst in the league, Spartans won the first game.
Whoever wins this match will end the game in the higher position. What that place depends on Rangers’ result.
