Excelsior Stadium, Kick-Off: 1pm
Leaders Glasgow City host an Aberdeen side knowing they only need to match Forfar’s result to be assured of safety.
The five-point lead Glasgow City has over Hibernian as they begin a packed October will be beneficial for them, however, they can’t take it for granted. They have four difficult league games left, and they will have to be able to rotate their squad efficiently across all three competitions. After their game against Aberdeen, their focus will turn towards their Champions League trip to Sweden against Eskilstuna United.
They can’t take Aberdeen lightly. The north-east club was drawn into the relegation battle by a run of poor results, but since the summer, a change in management and an implementation of a more attacking style has seen a turnaround that sees them ten points clear of the relegation zone. Aberdeen is now just six points off fourth and a top five finish is not beyond them.
Coupled with this change in form is the fact that Aberdeen has been a difficult and stubborn opposition for City this season. This is the fourth time these two sides have met in all competitions, and all three games so far have ended in 1-0 wins for City – including the SWPL Cup Semi-Final.
Glasgow City will remain top regardless of the result whereas it is possible for Aberdeen to move up to fifth if Stirling University and Rangers both lose.
