Stirling University, Kick-Off: 2pm
Stirling University will look to continue their good form, but will need to produce a shock to beat the league leaders Glasgow City,
Stirling University should no longer be described as strugglers or relegation fighters. After last week’s win over Forfar Farmington, they are ten points clear of bottom spot – and with seven games remaining, it is highly unlikely that they could be dragged into the battle.
In fact, the question is, how high can they finish in the SWPL 1. They are now three points off the fourth spot, and although it is unlikely they could chase down third (being eight points behind), there is no reason why they can’t aim for fourth.
Today, though, they face Glasgow City and if the champions click, they can be lethal. Last Sunday, they thrashed Rangers 7-0 and the week before, they beat Hibernian 4-0. They now have a five-point gap over Hibs and are closing in on their tenth title in a row. City will know the threat that Stirling’s face, but they will be confident that they can secure all three points.
Earlier in the season, City beat Stirling 1-0 at Stirling University, before comfortably winning 8-1 at the Excelsior Stadium.
Regardless of the result, City will remain first, but if Stirling wins – they could climb up to fourth.
