SWPL 1 leaders Glasgow City travel through to Edinburgh to take on Spartans – the only team to have beaten them in the league so far this season.
Spartans are currently in the battle for fourth place with Stirling University and Rangers and will look to build on their past game where they beat Forfar Farmington 1-0, their first win since the mid-season break. But obviously, taking on the champions Glasgow City will be no easy game.
City themselves have been in astonishing form in the league, winning all their games since the break without conceding a single goal. In that time, they’ve beaten Celtic 5-0 and Hibernian 4-0 – showing form that indicates their determination to win the historic tenth title in a row.
In fact, the last time City conceded in the league was the last time these two sides met – a game that shocked the game as Spartans won 3-0. So they’ve definitely got a reason to believe they can take a positive result from the game.
But, that win was at Excelsior Stadium and not Ainslie Park where this match will be played. Earlier in the season, City produced a stunning win to beat Spartans 8-0.
Spartans need to win to remain fourth, with a defeat coupled with a Stirling win seeing them drop down to fifth. City will remain first whatever the result.
