Greenfield Football Centre, Kick-Off: 2pm
Leaders Glasgow Girls face a difficult challenge to hold onto first place as they host a dangerous Hutchison Vale side.
The SWPL 2 title race looks like it will go down to the wire, but any thoughts that anyone had that Glasgow Girls will run out of steam were proven wrong last Sunday. Having lost to Hearts, and therefore their top spot, they showed their character to bounce back and beat Jeanfield Swifts 2-0. They have achieved their primary objective of safety, and now they are looking to achieve their next aim and lifting the trophy.
Hutchison Vale is just behind the chasing pack and if they want to make an unlikely title bid, they need to win this match as they sit eight points behind Glasgow Girls. Lose, and the gap becomes eleven. Even if they can’t win the title, they will want to finish up as high up as possible – and their win last Sunday against Hearts show once again that they can compete with this league’s very best.
This is the fourth time these sides have met this season. In the SWPL Cup First Round, Glasgow Girls won 3-1 however on the league’s opening day, the scores were reversed as Hutchie won 3-1. Back in May, Glasgow Girls won 2-0.
