Rangers v Glasgow City – Scottish Women’s Cup Third Round Preview

New Tinto Park, Kick-off: 2pm

In this Round 3, all-SWPL 1 tie, Rangers host the holders Glasgow City at New Tinto Park this afternoon.

Rangers’ form going into the recent mid-season break had been poor, losing five matches in a row. But that all changed last Sunday when they beat Aberdeen 2-0. They’ve also improved their squad over the past week, bringing in Vicki Farquhar and Kirstin McGuire. This win saw them move close towards the top four and away from the relegation places.

Glasgow City has also improved their squad in recent weeks, and one of them, Hayley Rosen impressed heavily in their game last Sunday. They had gone into the match with some questioning their title race credentials after a couple of poor results in June, but those were smashed when they thrashed Forfar Farmington 8-0. Rosen picked up a couple of assists.

Glasgow City, who has won the past five tournaments, faced the SWFL Second Division South side East Kilbride Girls who they beat 26-0. Rangers had to play the SWFL First Division Cup Runners-up East Fife, and they sealed their progress with a 7-0 win.

Earlier in the season, Glasgow City beat Rangers 3-0 in the SWPL 1.
