K-Park, Kick-off: 2pm
In one of two all-SWPL 1 Third Round ties, Celtic host Forfar Farmington.
Both teams suffered defeats last Sunday, but the manner of the defeats was remarkably different. Celtic looked like they were going to play a big twist in the title race and a big landmark in their club’s growth as the scores against Hibernian was level after ninety minutes. However, in second half stoppage time, Hibernian scored the winner to condemn Celtic to a 2-1 defeat.
This seems to mirror Celtic’s form throughout the season. Regularly beating the teams below them (apart from that shock loss to Stirling), but unable to quite take points off the top two clubs.
On the other hand, Forfar Farmington’s defeat to Glasgow City is one they will be looking to put behind them and treat it as a blip. Yes, they were not expected to take points off the champions and Scottish Cup holders – but they would have wanted to have frustrated them more.
And possibly, a cup tie where they aren’t expected to win is the match they wanted to bounce back, although it is unlikely they will see it that way.
This is the second SWPL 1 opposition Celtic have faced in their run, having beaten Aberdeen 7-0 in the Second Round. Forfar required extra-time in their respective tie, to defeat SWPL 2 side Buchan 5-3.
