Hibernian v Rangers – Match Preview – SWPL 1
Albyn Park, Kick-Off: 2pm
Hibernian look to keep their title challenge alive as they host a Rangers side looking to bounce back from a heavy defeat to City.
As mentioned before, Hibs’ painful 4-0 loss to Glasgow City in the league has put them under a huge amount of pressure. A five point gap means that City has to drop points – two may be enough depending on goal difference – and therefore, Hibernian must go into each game with a ruthless attitude. Chris Roberts’ will want his side to make sure City know that the Edinburgh club will win each game, to keep the pressure on them.
Rangers, in a sign of the league’s competitiveness, are in a battle for fourth between three sides as behind them, Stirling University has closed the gap upon them to two points. There has been an improvement since their poor run of form before the break – as they beat Forfar and Aberdeen – but last week, they were beaten 7-0 by Glasgow City.
If they win, Rangers could overtake Spartans into fourth – but lose, they could drop behind Stirling into sixth.
Hibs have beaten Rangers in both SWPL games, 3-1 on the opening day and then 6-0 back in May.
